PROJECT SUMMARY:
The candidate will be involved and supporting ongoing projects, all related with the development and characterization of nanostructured bainitic steels for industrial applications.
The activities will involve:
– High-resolution dilatometry for the characterization of bainitic transformation
kinetics, interpretation and simulation of the results obtained by this technique are
paramount.
– Microstructural characterization of the bainitic microstructures obtained by different
heat treatments. To do so, it is anticipated the use of techniques as optical and
scanning electron microscopy as well as X-ray diffraction.
– Metallography and sample preparation.
– Use of programs as MtData and Thermocalc for the theoretical calculations of interest
in the frame of this research.
