Since its inception on June 5, 1964, the Hospital is born with the name of National Center-Surgical Research. He thought of him as a pilot center for introducing new ideas both in organization of care and biomedical research, a center which cooperate arrived professionals from different areas of science and not just doctors. The idea was revolutionary and meant to be imitated throughout Spain. Clinical officers of that time have been remembered and recognized since then, both for those generation.
